P.E

We are proud to be part of the West Essex School Sport Partnership

At Limes Farm Infant School and Nursery, we strive to inspire all children through a high-quality and inclusive physical education (PE) curriculum. All children have the opportunity to enjoy being physically active, maintain a healthy lifestyle, support one another and achieve.

We provide a safe and supportive environment for children to excel individual abilities in a range of different physical activities that are essential in supporting their physical, emotional, spiritual, social and moral development.

Our children will have many opportunities to compete in sport which will help to embed values such as fairness and respect. Children are taught to observe and understand the rules of fair play, honest competition and good sporting behaviour as individual participants, team members and spectators. We inspire to embed life-long values such as co-operation, resilience, collaboration and equity of play.

Our PE Curriculum, along with PSHE and Science, teaches our children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the need for good nutrition. At Limes Farm Infant School and Nursery we aim for children to develop the necessary knowledge, confidence and skills which will have a positive impact on their future by becoming physically active citizens to benefit their long-term health and well-being.

Our PE Curriculum

Pupils have two hours of timetabled PE lessons every week covering games, dance, gymnastics, ball skills and athletics. We are extremely lucky to have a Sports Savy coach that takes one of these two lessons for each class. This ensures our children are exposed to highly skilled coaches to enhance their sporting experience. We also use Get Set 4 PE as our scheme of work which has lesson plans with progressive activities that are designed to inspire and engage pupils, allowing them to explore and develop skills and embed knowledge. The lessons are accompanied by supporting resources including resource cards, skills videos and music.
